The Ku band (K-under band) frequency is 10.7-12.75GHz for the downlink and 12.75-18.1GHz for the uplink. It can be seen that compared to the Ku frequency band, the Ka frequency band has a higher frequency. Therefore, when the aperture is equal, the Ka frequency band antenna has better directionality and receives less adjacent satellite interference, resulting in relatively high system performance

Based on this, the information transmission capability of Zhongxing 16 satellite, which is the first to apply the Ka frequency band multi beam broadband communication system, has significantly improved, with a total communication capacity exceeding 20G

From the perspective of applying for frequency permission, low-frequency spectra have been extensively developed, and new commercial satellite companies need to coordinate frequencies with corresponding entities to obtain access rights. Although the use of Ka band frequencies may also require coordination, it at least avoids the congestion and saturation of traditional frequency bands

In order to meet normal data capacity requirements even on rainy/cloudy days, it is often necessary to receive more capacity than is actually needed to compensate for weakened signals

Based on the high throughput and larger data transmission capacity of the Ka high-frequency band, communication satellites can provide low latency and high-speed data connection services to end consumers. Since the beginning of this century, communication satellite operators have increased investment in the Ka band and built and launched a series of Ka band satellites

Like communication satellites in other operating frequency bands, Ka band communication satellites mainly target areas that are not covered by ground communication networks, as a supplement to ground communication network systems. The main application scenarios include voice messaging services in remote areas, internet connection services at sea/on board, community internet services, emergency communication, television broadcasting services, Internet of Things data transmission, corporate intranet, etc
